Fire protection agencies refer to Wildland/Urban Interface as the area where human development such as homes, ranches, industrial/recreational areas meet. Interface fires can occur in two different ways; threatening to spread into adjacent wildland areas, or wildland fire threatening to spread into adjacent structures.
